- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup no-sugar-added applesauce
- 1 ½ cups peeled and finely diced Honeycrisp apples (about 2 medium apples)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- â…“ cup plus 2 tablespoons apple cider or apple juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a baking sheet.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, melt butter and whisk in sugar until fluffy.
- Add egg, vanilla, and applesauce; mix until smooth.
- Stir in flour mixture and fold in diced apples.
- Scoop mounds of batter onto the baking sheet.
- Bake for 10 minutes until golden and cooked through.
- Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar and cider/juice.
- Glaze fritters, broil for 2-4 minutes, and apply final glaze.
Notes
Finely dice apples for even flavor in each bite.
Do not skip the broiling step for caramelization.
