  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 pound ground sirloin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 grated pear
  • 4 large garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar (light is fine too)
  • 3 tablespoons mirin
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang or Sambal Oelek
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 1 large head butter lettuce
  • 1/2 cup julienned carrots
  • 1/2 cup julienned red peppers
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Combine soy sauce, dark brown sugar, mirin, sesame oil, black pepper, and gochujang in a jar or bowl to make the sauce.
  • Heat sesame oil in a skillet and cook ground sirloin with salt until golden and crispy, about 6-8 minutes.
  • Add sliced onion and grated pear to the beef, cooking for an additional 4-5 minutes, then add minced garlic for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour sauce over the meat and vegetables, cooking for 3-4 minutes until flavors meld.
  • Assemble wraps by spooning the beef mixture into lettuce leaves and topping with carrots, red peppers, and sesame seeds.

Notes

Ensure even distribution of ground beef in the pan for a crispy texture.
Adjust the level of spice to personal preference by varying sambal oelek.
Rinse lettuce leaves thoroughly before assembling.
