- 1 box brownie mix, prepared according to package instructions (or homemade brownie mix)
- 12 tablespoons butter (1 1/2 sticks), melted and cooled until warm
- 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Prepare the brownie mix and spread it in the bottom of the pan.
- In the same bowl, mix the melted butter, both sugars, egg, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add flour, baking soda, and salt; mix gently until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop and drop cookie dough onto the brownie base.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cookie layer is set.
Notes
Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor.
Cool completely before cutting to prevent crumbling.
