Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (for dough)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for topping)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)
- 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix melted butter and buttermilk until combined.
- Combine the wet and dry mixtures until a thick dough forms, avoiding overmixing.
- Fold in shredded cheddar cheese evenly into the dough.
- Scoop portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between biscuits.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown on top.
- Meanwhile, mix melted butter, garlic powder, and parsley for the topping.
- Brush the garlic butter mixture on hot biscuits after baking.
Notes
Use fresh baking powder for the best rise.
A few lumps in the dough are acceptable to maintain a light texture.
For extra cheesiness, add more cheddar to the dough or sprinkle on top before baking.
