- 1 (9×13 inch) chocolate cake, cut into 1-inch squares
- ½ cup + 4 tablespoons Kahlua
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ⅔ cup boiling water
- 1 cup liquid egg whites (pasteurized)
- 8 large Skor bars (or Health/toffee bars)
- 4 cups heavy whipping cream (do NOT use spray whipped cream)
Instructions
- Soak chocolate cake squares in ½ cup of Kahlua.
- Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Combine boiling water, chocolate chips, and remaining Kahlua; mix until smooth.
- Gently fold egg whites into chocolate mixture.
- Crush Skor bars into small pieces.
- Layer half of the soaked chocolate cake, half of the mousse, half of the whipped cream, and half of the Skor bars in a trifle bowl.
- Repeat layer with remaining ingredients.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours before serving.
Notes
Use room temperature egg whites for better volume.
High-quality chocolate chips enhance the flavor.
For best taste, let the trifle sit overnight.
