Ingredients

  • 1 (9×13 inch) chocolate cake, cut into 1-inch squares
  • ½ cup + 4 tablespoons Kahlua
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ⅔ cup boiling water
  • 1 cup liquid egg whites (pasteurized)
  • 8 large Skor bars (or Health/toffee bars)
  • 4 cups heavy whipping cream (do NOT use spray whipped cream)

Instructions

  • Soak chocolate cake squares in ½ cup of Kahlua.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  • Combine boiling water, chocolate chips, and remaining Kahlua; mix until smooth.
  • Gently fold egg whites into chocolate mixture.
  • Crush Skor bars into small pieces.
  • Layer half of the soaked chocolate cake, half of the mousse, half of the whipped cream, and half of the Skor bars in a trifle bowl.
  • Repeat layer with remaining ingredients.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature egg whites for better volume.
High-quality chocolate chips enhance the flavor.
For best taste, let the trifle sit overnight.
