Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons minced fresh thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package Hawaiian rolls (12 count)
  • 10 slices provolone cheese
  • 14 ounces sliced deli roast beef
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dried onion soup mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 3 cups water
  • Fresh chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Melt butter in skillet and sauté onion until caramelized.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare baking dish.
  • Slice Hawaiian rolls and layer ingredients in baking dish.
  • Mix melted butter with onion soup mix and brush on rolls.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, uncover and bake for 5 more.
  • Prepare au jus and serve sliders warm with dipping sauce.

Notes

Caramelize onions slowly for the best flavor.
Try different bread types like kaiser rolls for variety.
Watch sliders while baking to avoid over-browning.
