- 1 large shallot, minced
- 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp minced garlic
- 4 tsp ground cumin (for sauce)
- 4 tsp paprika
- 1 1/2 tsp salt (for sauce)
- 16 oz tomato sauce
- 2 cups heavy cream
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
- Couscous or rice, for serving
- Naan, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a bowl, mix ground meat, shallot, panko, egg, ginger, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Shape meat mixture into 18-22 meatballs and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake meatballs for 14-16 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- In a frying pan, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant.
- Add cumin, paprika, and salt to the pan, stirring well.
- Incorporate tomato sauce and heavy cream, whisk and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Add the meatballs to the sauce and simmer for a few minutes to blend flavors.
Notes
Ensure meatballs are evenly sized for consistent cooking.
Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning before serving.
Let the dish sit briefly for flavors to meld.
